Well, looks like this is the end of Earth and Beyond:

2004-03-16 : Important Announcement
Earth & Beyond Says Goodbye

Starting September 22, 2004, Earth & Beyond will no longer be in service. After an amazing two years of galactic adventure, Electronic Arts has made the decision to close Earth & Beyond in order to focus resources on future games.

Please check your email associated with your Earth & Beyond game account for updates and more information on what this closure means to you. We hope you've enjoyed the game as much as we have and that we'll see you again in another great EA game!

I am back for a little while. I re-activated my account and am starting to get my "space legs" again. For the past couple nights I been moving around getting familiar with the game again and I really miss the old friends I used to see. I also notice the lack of any FF logos. They seem to be as rare as a friendly Zen. Shame, we really were a good resource..but I digress...

I have been playing for a couple nights now and am intrigued by the message fragments I am finding out in Xipe as well as what they have been doing with the v'rix since I logged out so many months ago. To this end I have created an online text decoder for both the fragments and the v'rix messages. Simply paste a text sample into the form below, select the message type and then click decode to see the result. This decoder is based on work done by Whadget. I take no credit for his(her) work. The decoder does not store anything, there are already fragment databases alread so no since in re-creating the wheel.

Wolfie Rears his ugly head!
Well, Swerver contacted me with info that the stats and roster pages weren't working. I had time to fix them and they are now back online. I see the guild is still looking good and standing prowd in the E&B universe.

Wolfie is 10-99...

Happy New Year!
Looks like 2002 went out without a "Bang"... I guess Osama was busy spending the new year with his goats. The Sirius Cybernetics Corporation would like to thank all those who are in positions to keep us safe, keep up the good work guys (Grissom Space Patrols not included)!!

2003 is just beginning, and it's going to be a great year for us. I've got lots of good ideas thanks to the guild for site development like: A Wanted Area to list all the Components and Ores that various guild members are looking for, a Builder Listing page for our Builders to list their abilities on, and my own idea.. a Screenshot Zone for you guys to upload all your cool screenshots! Keep your eyes peeled, and check the site once in a while for changes. If you'd like to submit an idea, please drop me a line in the forums - I'll see what I can do.

Sorry for the lack of news updates everyone. As you all have probably heard and figured out, Wolfie has retired from active duty with the SCC, and turned leadership over to the most natural decision, Chudinc. Coming at ya now is me, Swerver. Take off your belt and bite down hard as I attempt to replace Wolfie as the site editor, and try as I may, I will not compare with his awesome abilities.

I wanted to wish all of our illustrious members and those who frequent our site a very Happy Holidays! Enjoy your time off, gain a few pounds, and make sure you don't get dressed for a whole day.. it's a very liberating experience.. just wear a bathrobe or pajamas or something. If you need to goto a supermarket or convenience store, at least put some pants on.

SCC is prowd to bring another first for the E&B community! Our Navigation Plotter is now online! You can now plot a route from any system to any other system. It also will display any bases you pass along the way and any trade routes that are completable along the route! An awesome feature for you TT's out there! A new button has been added to the menu on the left or you can access the page here.

The sector maps for most systems are now complete. Surveys of Capella, Antares, Sirius, Tau Ceti, Aragoth, Deneb, Gallina, Vega, and both Shears are complete. Only a few sectors remain for Beta Hydri and Sol. Alpha Centauri is the next system slated for survey and Sol and Beta Hydri will follow quickly thereafter. This has been a long process and much game time has been dedicated to it, we hope you enjoy the results! Once the survey is complete, I plan to begin work on a search option that will enable you to search for specific waypoints.

Another first for Sirius Cybernetics Corporation! We have placed online the first (to the best of our knowledge) dynamically generated, database driven sector maps! The maps are generated in real time so any changes we make to the database is instant;y reflected on this web site. Check out the sectors here. They are linked to the station listing page as well as station details. Gates on the maps link to the correct sectors so you can virtually travel through the E&B universe. Base icons on the maps link back th station details for that base. This is an exciting advancement in E&B mapping! We are currently still mapping many sectors and have 1440 waypoints mapped currently.

We all have been working hard at gathering and re-verifying data we collected during the beta. As such, our stations page is now online. It lists all stations (dockables) in the game as of this date. Details pages for the stations include station locations, vendors/stations available there, owners and now trade routes going TO and FROM the station. Now you can easily plan your trade venture! The trade routes show purchase prices (and where we have researched them) sell prices, profits, calculated trade experience and gate count for the trade trip. There are 230 trade routes in the database currently and still growing.

Well, the Beta is over now. We wait now for our retail packages to arrive to play again. I want to take this moment to thank all those guild members who helped advance this guild in its infancy.

The final "Event" was a stupendous raid by the Red Dragon faction on the Sol system. They formed a coordinated attack in multiple sectors but players united, ignoring race, class or status in hundreds of groups to defend the stations. Net-7 SOL was hardest hit and we lost many good people in its defence. I was there in the action and took heavy damage. I assisted with evacuating the wounded and disabled players. Jove was hit as well but defences there were strong and the station took little dammage. Few deaths were evidence that the defence force there was prepared and able.

I managed to take some in-game screenshots and I present them below as testiment to those fallen in defence of their brother. "It is always a good day to die in defence of your brother"

Saturn Sector, Net-7 SOL Defence

Jupiter Sector, Jove's Fury Defence

The guild pages are alive on the main earthandbeyond.com website so we can present current standings and membership rosters more easily. As such, our home page now includes memberhsip rosters and current game standings. Both of these pages are updated every 30 minutes!

The final player wipe has happened. We are now in countdown to release! After peeking through the files after today's patch, I found what appear to be the Founder Federation decal as well as some others that are named similarly...
